Each respectable fly fisherman is supposed to be proficient in tying all the correct knots. When I attempt to use my finger to tie the “nail knot” it gets caught each time. The old trustworthy “clinch knot” somehow becomes a slip knot. Now what sort of knot do I use to tie the fly onto the tippit?

June 10, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Fishing

Say it quietly and with care – Spring could be knocking on the doors! I dropped my little lad to school this afternoon and in the driveways along the path there were clearly crocuses in bloom. Also, daffodils appear to be heaving their way into the open air as well as the bluebells at the bottom of my front garden. It’s so , eventually after the bleak vileness of winter after xmas, it appears as finally there is a reason to be cheerful. And, more to the point, the time that I go back to the canal and go angling may genuinely be here.

A Fabulous Plan For A TV Show To Feature Maggot Drowning And Restore The Chat-Show

May 28, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Fishing

I have had a superb idea for a telly programme. Following on from Robert Llewellyn’s (Kryton in Red Dwarf) marvellous Car Pool, in which he interviews famous folk as he gives them a lift somewhere, I have a vision of Tackle Out – a talk-show where the host goes off angling with a famous face and they sit by a river and chat about this and that.

When The Instant And Circumstances Are Correct, You Will See Me Bunk Off To Go Fishing

The excellent news today is that my bed doesn’t dislike me. I am not sure about the cause of the shoulder pain still, but the problem with my neck is Cricket Ache caused by dropping off in front of the television whilst watching the cricket and not being able to retain wakefulness. At least I did manage to see the termination of the match. It will not be reoccurring, I am very much a Test match fan and will not be bothering to remain up for the limited over matches. Besides, this being a Friday, in the coming weeks I’ll be aiming to get an early start at work so that I can nick off in the afternoon to go angling.

I Have Had Plenty Of Chances To Carry On The Tackle Dangling I Adored In My Adolescence

April 15, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Fishing

My absence from the waterside in the years since I halted angling looks so odd to me now. I used to adore it so much, particularly as my other interests tended to be at the violently strenuous end of the spectrum, playing as I did rugby, football and cricket for assorted school and village teams. Having the opening to pick up my fishing tackle, jump on a bike and ride for the ten minutes to travel to the local fishery and enjoy a few hours gently sat with a rod in my hand and staring at a float on the water was fantastic.

Sorting Out The Selection Of Chair Properly Might Be The Difference To A Day’s Fishing

April 12, 2011 | Author: | Posted in Fishing

I wonder what the best chair selection is when out angling? I currently have, as I saw when I pulled my fishing tackle down from the garage shelf the other day, a little collapsible stool which is rather ancient and I fear will struggle to bear me for very long. Partly down to metal fatigue but more to do with the fact that there is somewhat more to me than there was the last time I sat next to a river.
